Best question to ask first is how long do you intend to keep your RX?

The longer, the more likely I would suggest the Optima.

Kirkland (Johnson Controls) for best bang for your buck.

Meets/Exceeds OEM cold cranking amps
Built in handle
Unbeatable price

Go buy one for 50 bucks, install it, and don't look back for at least 5 years.

Sound advice, that. If you want to spend big bucks for some über-battery, that’s fine, but unless you need some gigantic power source for a mega-watt sound system, the investment is probably not worth it. Like so many aftermarket parts, most of the real benefit of designer-label components is in the imagination of the buyer. Electrons are electrons, and so long as the storage facility has adequate capacity, and is able to deliver them in sufficient quantity to turn the engine over, you're good to go. The difference between what’s in your car now and that $150 battery is about $100 worth of marketing. If you want to start your car, play the radio, and burn a few lights, an OEM replacement is just fine. After all, it got you this far . . .

I would suggest that get a sealed battery.

CCA, terminals, size all are important, but if the battery if not sealed will let out crossive fumes. I love to keep the engine bay celan and no rust on clamp down. The extra $$ are worth it for me.

Agree that higher price does not necessary mean better battery. Check Consumer Reports' test results on car batteries. Some do better than others.

Frankly I'd rather get my hands on the original blue-eye Matsushi-ta battery. It's the second car battery in my life that has lasted over 5 years and still going strong. Most went dead within 3 years. (The first was a Motorcraft, still kicking when I junked the Ford after 8+ years.)

I feel the same way. I'd go for the made-in-Japan original style, but I guess that's not an option so I'll probably go with the Costco battery when the time comes.
