Traction control and Check Engine light on...

will the "Check Engine" light caust the TC light to come on also? Troubleshooting for a friend and new to the forum. Any obvious troubleshooting recommendations are greatly appreciated.

It can happen in the 2001-2003 models as they have the TC light.
A few things you can do:
1. The light could just be temporary, so try either pulling the battery cables and putting them back on or
2. If you don't want to pull the cables, go the fusebox and pull out (with key out of ignition, vehicle not on) the EFI fuse indicated below and then put it back in
this should at least for a moment clear up the light, BUT
3. If it comes back on you have to use an OBDII scanner. Autozone has these available, usually for free to check a code, but we have seen some cheap ones available on the net. I have no problem going over the code, but I need the actual number PXXXX.
