I actually have a Yellowtop and it fits fine but you might have to modify the battery tie-down and the cut down the insulation sleeve that goes around th battery. about a 5 minute fix. I have to see which number my yellowtop i and ill post it later.

also...can i have more speakers than i had OEM? i believe that our rx's came with 6 speakers + sub under the front passenger seat (2 tweeters, 2 door speakers up front, 2 door in back seats)...can i add more or is that not possible? example...i turn i turn my 6 speaker (not counting the sub) car into an 8 or more speaker car? does something have to be done in order for me to do this?

Why don't you just go to a local shop and listen to all these things for yourself. What you're considering getting is the exact opposite that I would be buying. Everyone is different, and there isn't really a "bad" sub if you're going to be paying $250 and up. Every sub just sounds different, and you're not going to be able to tell what YOU like unless you hear it in person. A thousand people could tell you that a Kicker L7 is the best sub EVER, but when you go hear a JL 10w6v2 you might discover that you like the tone of it better.
What would I buy? A 10w6v2 because in my opinion they sound cleaner, and can hit just as hard or HARDER than an L7. What DID i buy? 2 12w3v2's, because at the time I thought two subs would be cooler than one. I was wrong.
Kicker, JL, Alpine, Boston, Eclipse etc. have some really nice subs that you really can't go wrong with. You just need to go listen to them yourself.
P.S. If you don't listen to rap, don't get a ported box. There is no need. But once again, it's all a matter of opinion.

i do listen to rap...i found the kicker l7 at the local audio store yesterday and i was quite impressed...it actually shook my insides a bit (rattled them) and it felt crazy! it was in a ported box and powered by an amp to match it's power perfectly and cranked up really loud. i do see where it might be lacking in sound quality, however, i don't care, and around here people arent big at customizing their cars, just me !

That amp will not be sufficient. It may pass but I can't gaurantee sound quality. If you take a look at the specs its 1600watts MAX. But take a look at the RMS and its only 100watts per channel for 2ohms. Something is definately wrong. I am not familiar with the brand myself, but I wouldnt trust any no name amp. You pretty much get what you pay for when it comes to amps.

o ok. darn it. i cant find a good amp that's not like $600! i went to ebay and search for "4 channel amp" and limited to one's with "buy it now" feature. that gave me 750 results. i have no idea which to pick! i want to spend under $300, but im not sure if it's possible
as for the brand, i've definately heard of it before. it's a company that BMW used on their E models. (like E64 or whatever). they had nitro sound systems (if im not mistaken) as ive read on beamer forums

how would this amp work for boston accoustic pro60's?
or is this one better?
actually i had a new idea. what about 2 separate amps? one 2-channel amp for the left door speakers + tweeter, and one 2-channel amp for the right door speakers + tweeter. would this work? from my knowledge, which is definitily limited, it seems 2 of these would be good right?
also, when i get the JL cleansweep installed and i have my iPod connected to it, how do I play the iPod? 99 rx's don't have auxiliary buttons, so would it be cd or something? what do you push?

My friend, I had the same problem as you. If you do not have tweeters in your system already, get them. I did not read every post, but, I can tell you right now in order for you to have a great sounding system you need to achieve front stage. I'm new at this myself, but, most people would agree that the rear speakers are either not needed at all, or can be used just as filler. You really need to be concerned with your FRONTS. Tweeters are a MUST. So, go with components in the front, and as for the rear, go with coaxials. Look at my previous posts, they sound similar to some of your concerns. Also, check out the audio section of these forums. You can find a lot of help right there.
