Default Bye Bye RX300, hello?

Our 1999 RX3000 with only 57K miles just drove away with a new owner. We liked it for the year it stayed with us, but I think I want to go back to a regular sporty car.

My overall impression was very favorable except for one thing I consider a major flaw that makes the car dangerous -- the turning radius was bigger than any car I have ever owned or driven. Bigger than large SUV's, trucks and everything else I know of. Forget the U-turn if you value your life. Once or twice I forgot and ended up having to back up where I should not have had to. Thought I was driving one of those 30-foot Hummer limo's!

I am glad I found this forum to help me diagnose my check engine light (needed an O2 sensor) and answer other beginner questions.

It'll be sad to see you go.

I 100% agree with you on the turning radius. I know every owner here has felt that frustration. I also saw it in some Harrier owners I watched trying to do u-turns in Jamaica on my recent trip there. How Lexus could make this mistake when the vehicle was introduced as the Harrier in the late 90s is beyond me.

Check out the GS4s. The old are very attractive in price and a pleasure to own and thrilling to drive. Recently other 4dr sedans have hit the market and are good candidates as well.

The wide turning radius is indeed a shotcomong, but I attributed it to design need to prevent roll over. 1/2 turn of the wheel made less angular change in direction. But it was quickly fixed in the next turn around.

Yeh, a few exciting experiences until you learn how many lanes (I figure about 3, i.e., 3 lanes on the other side of the divider or 2 lanes and a 1-lane-wide divider) it takes to make a U-turn. That's the biggest short-coming in the car IMO, but I've learned to accept it.

I also recommend the GS but I prefer the 350, check out the award winning 2gr-fse engine. The current V8 is a good engine but it is due to be replaced by the new 4.6L.
If things pan out, I will buy a GS350 this year too.
