Default What brand of engine oil do you use?

There is no right or wrong answer to this as we all have different reasons for the oils (and even grades/weights) that we use.

I am currently using the German Castrol 0W30, but was informed the other day that it won't be sold in Mexico soon (to be replaced by something else)

In some of my travels and even communications on the Internet I discovered for instance that in Jamaica, a few Harrier owners I contacted like Amsoil (which is widely available), while in Germany, some of the RX300 owners there liked Liqui Moly (sometimes known as Lubro Moly) even over some other well-known oils. In Brazil and Spain, Shell Helix seemed to be an oil of choice with owners there.

Multiple answers are possible since some do blend different oils.

I've recently switched to Mobil 1 (synthetic) from Castrol 5w-30 (dyno) at 75K and increase the oil change from every 3K to 5K miles.

I use Royal Purple, 5-20, but this is the last time, switching over to 5-30 next.

I voted for Whatever the dealer puts in and Royal Purple.

Been waiting for this summer to try Royal Purple on a bunch of cars.

PCMO that uses group IV base oil with a top notch additive package @ <$4.5 per quart: German Castrol Gold for summer, Mobil 1 0w-20 SL for winter. Fortunately I have a healthy stash since both have become hard to find now.

switching to synthetic on a car with mileage could start causing leaks.
pennzoil is a great oil to use if you are not willing to go synthetic (from mile 0)
rx gets pennzoil, gti gets mobil 1

Actually, the Toyota brand oil is from the cheapest bulk oil vendor. I remember that a long while back it was made by Agip, then Kendall, now apparently it's Valvoline.

HarrierAWD's comment "Toyota brand oil is from the cheapest bulk oil vendor" .. that is interesting, I assumed they would use one of the better brands.
For my RX300 toyota changes the oil and recommends oil change every 8000km or 6 months ... I guess they must be ok with cheap oil doing the job ??
Hummm.

A few years back here in Mexico, I found Toyota here was using Mobil, but not sure about Canada or U.S.

wwest also mentioned Toyota using recycled bulk oil, not sure about Lexus since some members reported dealer fill for RX400h is Vavoline blend.
In Toyota parts department, I believe it is Mobil 5000 by the quart, just as Lexmex mentioned.

I have been trying to figure out as to who makes this for Wallmart. Tech oil filter is made by Fram.

All dino oils are about the same. The difference is in marketing and packaging. So even the unbranded bulk oil can give you good results.

The Agip oil is actually quite good. It reduced oil burning on my GM car. Not sure about Kendall.

The base oil, which makes up 85% of final engine oil, can be recycled. Out of every 4 quarts of used oil you take to the local auto parts store, 2.5 quarts can be re-refined and re-used.

The remaining 15% are additives, more often than not, proprietary to each blender. Even with the same brand, same weight, oil company changes formulation every couple of years. For example, SM rated oil has much less sulfur and phosphorous, therefore, more friendly toward catalytic converter than SL rated oil under the same brand.
