Default Sun/Moon Roof Sound

Hey guys the weather is finally nice here in NJ and the Sun/Moon roof will be in use more offten now. When its opened (tilted) up it makes like a crakling sound coming from the mecanism. Needs to be lubed? Lithium grease?, If so where exactly do I Lube? Does not make any sound when opening or closing, just when its opened and stays opened. Wondering if anyone has had this craking sound. Thanks

This was a common problem a few years ago. I know we discussed it on the online forums but I am not sure which ones. I am not even sure if Club Lexus was around then. You can try a search. I'm pretty sure Lexus even had a TSB on it. It has to do with the plastic sunroof trim expanding and contracting. If you park the car in the sun and then drive with the A/C on you will hear the cracking as the plastic contracts. Early on, I had my 2001 back to the dealer a few times for this. This was before lexus identified the problem. They did help it but I can still hear it sometimes when the above conditions are met.

Finally someone with info on this topic! I tried looking for this problem online and had no luck. I called Lexus and they want $100.00 just to look at it. The hell with it i'll just live with it, till we find something to do for free.

There is a special **** on the stereo controls that fixes that. You need to turn it clockwise all the way. I am not sure why it is there.

I don't think they will at this point. You are way past warranty.
