my experience with Auto-RX
Hi everyone,
I just finished a cleaning my RX with auto-rx engine treatment.
I have a 2001 fwd rx300 with 90k miles.
To begin with, I noticed a power decrease in my engine around 70k miles. It just didn't accelerate like it use to. I came on this forum and heard a lot about sludge formation in the rx engine. I didnt have smoke coming out of my tail pipe and i did regular oil changes. I decided to give auto-rx it a try as a preventative measure as recommended by some good people on this forum. Also I had minor oil seepage and i heard autorx can restore seals.
I was skeptical at first but when I drained my oil after the cleaning phase, it was pitch black. This was German Castrol full synthetic. I've never seen oil this black come out of my engine. Auto-rx must have dissolved a lot of crud in my engine as it claims to do.
What convinced me was the particles that came out with oil. You can see it in the pictures at the bottom of the pan.
I started the rinse phase with dino oil. Differences were subtle at first but now my engine is progressively running smoother (after 100 miles into rinse). Acceleration is much quicker and smoother at low speeds and high end speeds. Engine is also smoother at low speeds and vibration is less. Also mileage increased by a few mpg on freeways. It had dropped to 20mpg before now its going around 23mpg at cruising. This has sure made driving more fun.
I'm going to run the treatment again since im near 100k and I'll try the auto-rx transmission application as well.

If you still have the oil filter, you can cut it open. It is likely you will see more fine sludge particles trapped in the filter media.
The rinse cycle will wash more sludge off the metal parts in the engine.
Sorry if I missed it, what is your oil change interval and oil used before GC?

Lexmex' uncle has been using it on other cars brought into his shop. Roxpert also has a leak, he just ordered Auto-RX.
Here are pictures I took after Auto-RX treatment of my RX300

Not that I am aware of. In our case, my uncle and I have to order it through the net to somone in Texas, then someone and then in our case, someone has to bring it across (there is some red tape if we try to ship it normally).
We ran out of the stuff a short time ago, but hope to get some more down here soon

Before GC and learning to do oil change on my own, I did 5000mile oil change invervals using dino and sometimes synthetic if it was on sale. What concerned was that I used those speed oil change places. Sometimes I it went up 7000 when I was really busy and because I didnt know anything about engine care back then.
I saved my filter from the cleaning phase. Whats the easiest way to cut it open?

Hey guys...I went to the website for Auto-RX...thinking about ordering some for my next oil change. I just did an oil change today through my mechanic (used Mobil1 5W-30 I brought in myself...got it for 6 Quarts for 30 dollars at Costco). I talked to him about Auto-RX. He never heard of the stuff so I described it to him...and he told me that it sounds like an engine flush. Can anybody elaborate on this? Because my mechanic said that if I wanted an engine flush he'd do one for $12 USD more than what I pay right now for oil changes (which is $15 for filter and labor...since I bring in my own oil).

A site favored by a lot of us here on CL, www.bobistheoilguy.com, contains a hoard of information on oils/additives/etc. of all types and is frequented by experts in the industry. A lot of positive things have been written about this product, and another one of my favorites that several of us RX300 owners use, German Castrol 0W30.
