Hello,
My 99 RX300 is fast approaching 90k ( 87k currently), I know the 90k service is a big one.. what have most of you paid for the timing belt, water pump, and whatever else is necessary when doing the TBelt.
Curious what the dealer charges, indy, or other, have seen a few posts where people have gotten it done at a Toyota dealership, is that recommended?
Also, are there any recommended sites to order from, pref OEM?
Thanks all

It will be well over $1K. I would suggest you take it to a Toyota dealer and just do the things that Lexus recommends and not what the dealer recommends. When you change the timing belt, it will be a good time to replace the water pump and other belts. This is not a reap off but a industry practise because if the water pump fails, the labor to replace it is similar to the replacement of the timing belt. You should replace all the fluids in the car and change out the spark plugs.

If you do a search you will find the cost of 90K service which includes Tbelt but also has other items ($150-200) will be around $1200 from dealer.
You need to open it up to see if idellers etc need replacement or not.
No, Lexus dealer is not the only place you can have it done. [Although they do it often enough and one has the expectation that they will do it right].
The consequences of doing it wrong can be horrific.

Of things that I will work on with my RX300, I can tell you honestly I wouldn't do any of the belts myself (it gives me the ******* unlike other things I play around with), but get an expert like my uncle or an independent shop (often started up by Toyota or Lexus techs). Last time I got my water pump timing belt, and accessory belts done, cost me about $900 USD at Lexus back in the states.
As Salim mentioned, the consequences of doing it wrong can be horrific, I couldn't agree more.

I have a RX 300 (now with 102k) on it and had the timing belt/water pump/accessory belts all replaced a few months ago...i shopped around and found the local Lexus dealer was right in the same ball park as other indy shops. The total cost was jsut under 900.00
