Now try to sell that to those who believe they must use premium gas for performance reasons. Would it be wise for RX to operate at higher RPM considering most 1mz-fe applications are for sedans with less weight?
Going back to the original question, if one drives RX the same way he drives an ES, the performance will be slower, which is what the thread starter experienced.

Well,I think we need to experience with him (be their in the RX) to see exactly what he is referring to by being to slow.I can tell you my experience going from my 300e (mercedes led sled)to my RX.And the difference was night and day.Yes the mercedes was pretty fast on the highway, but this RX would kill it off the line.

First,is your RX AWD,or FWD.Second,Go synthetic in drive train(if awd synthetic in transfer.and rear diff.,engine,trans.Third,Slip in a K&N airfilter.I did these simple steps, and noticed a difference with performance, and fuel milage.

Thats true, these trannies are not one of the strong points of the RX.Then again, lexmex races his,and it takes it.

Adjusting the throttle cable made an incredible difference!

TunedRx300, I'm not familiar with the term gate shifting. I assume you're talking about rev'ing in Neutral then switching it up to D?
Thanks for the tips though!
your talking about a neutral drop,And that my friend, will kill any drive line very fast.NOT something you want to do in any vehicle.

Great, now you tell me!

I do that at every stoplight to get the tires to scratch.

Just kidding.

We used to do a lot of dealer "test drives" back in high school. The neutral drop was always part of the standard "test".

I understand resetting the ECM, but how much of a REAL difference are we talking about? The RX was 8.8 or so to 60 mph from a stop, will resetting even shave the .8 off?

Mine runs like crap after a reset, until it re-learns again.

debating whether to do the throttle cable adjustment...

Does the TPS (throttle position sensor) in the ecm readjust to 0 when you readjust the cable and reset the ecm?

Tightening it up won't affect it. It only reduces the slack on the line so the throttle butterflies can open quicker, it's all mechanical in nature with this procedure.
