Arrow Castrol Syntec 0w-30 Used Oil Analysis for RX300

I sent an sample of German Castrol oil that I piled ~7000 of mixed miles to OAI. The lab result showed there is still acid fighting additive left as TBN = 2.72 and viscosity stayed in grade. No coolant leak, no water.

I am happy about lower Lead, Aluminum, and Iron counts but need to monitor the Copper. Overall, I am happy about GC and feel safe to go 7500 miles for my driving style and condition. This should be a good reference for fellow CL members to use.

Oil filter is FRAM XG 3600 and air filter is K&N drop in, I also added 2.5 oz of Auto-RX to flush out sludge left from previous treatment. GC virgin oil has 4 ppm silicon so actual Si count is 13ppm.

That's good news. I probably have to worry plenty about silicon since I don't use an air filter.

When I get back to the U.S. and start using an air filter, will also be testing on a regular basis and would also like to test out some other things like tranny fluid and coolant.

Lexmex,
I am using 235/60/18 tires, which rotates 2.4% slower than OEM tires so this oil actually lasted 7091 miles.
I think Meetya also wanted to do an UOA and posted it here. I have not seen him posting recently. dfish might try Auto-RX in the tranny, he is also an GC user, as discussed in this thread

Most the silicon in your case are hopefully puffed out the exhaust pipe, the bigger dust particles should be trapped by the oil filter. It would be interesting to see Copper, Lead, and Iron levels, that will tell us whether metals are coming off bearings, cylinders and piston rings.

The exhaust shop I use down here was suppose to get some more advanced gas analysis test (word I heard used was spectrometer) to further see what else was going out the pipe besides stuff like HCs and Nox. Not sure when they are going to get it, but they plan to expand their operations soon, so that also might be interesting to see.

By year's end, I should also be getting some new tires, though I plan to move from 235-70-16 CrossTerrains to 235-60-16 Energy LX4s.
