Cool Vsc

Hey everyone,I posted a while back about pos.traction problem.I have found out that starting in 2001,vsc is very much a traction control, and brake assist.I also believe my problem with the system,(at times when I pull out)it activates.(I feel it apply brake, like it detects wheel slip) is a wheel sensor. The reason I believe this is,I saw the light (with the slippery car),come on when it did this. But the light doesn`t always come on when this happens. Also, this happens in dry weather, and it doesn`t matter if I`m on the gas hard, or just feathering the gas,it will some times do this.Never know when it is going to do it either. It`s like, driving on egg shells with this problem.Any way, thought I would fill you in on what I have learned about this very anoying, intermitent (my spelling is not great) problem.Any coment`s about this, please post what you all think.By the way,my tire pressure is good, about 32 psi, and tires are almost new.I found a sensor,on the wheel hub, that look`s like an a.b.s sensor, cleaned it with brake kleen, just to see if that helps. So far,has not activated vsc.........Thanx

Don't worry, the members are cool about spelling and grammar. No one has made fun of my poorly composed notes. The community is just awesome.

If anything the VSC should put you at ease ... it is there and would kick in when needed (even unnecessarily in your case) as no harm comes to the vehicle and its occupants.

Lexus went with number of combinations of Trac, VSC (with AWD and FWD).

A while back I did start a thread on speed sensor and Lexmex posted a picture of it. It seems the sensor is pretty much well protected from brake dust and other metal particles. Unfortunately the side affect is that if something does get lodged in there, it will not come out.

I would suggest check all four sensors to ensure they are clean. The next thing would be to get a reading dump from sensor output [may need the dealer to do it] and then possibly replace the offending sensor.

Salim
ps: There are magnets and sensors. If there is enough metal gunk on magnets, then it would shunt the field and the sensors may not pick enough. So clean the magnets too.

Either way. You still hit the tip where the magnet is by doing the way you did it. Last Saturday I did this and noticed just a minor accumulation of filings on the magnets. Carb cleaner and a jet of water later and things were just dandy.

Hard to say what the issue is with that VSC. I have tested a lot of vehicles down here and have seen all quirks with traction control systems, however it is certain that the better reading those sensors can get, the more likely the VSC system will be stable. This goes for other sensors like the MAF sensor on the air intake.
