My 99 RX with 104k on it seems to drive very hard when it starts to get cold out evem over the smallest of cracks or potholes. The car doesn't glide over the cracks but seems to hit them very hard. I am fairly sure that either the struts are bad or at the very least the mounts are no good. I know that this is a fairly common problem with the RX's. I have asked a number of people who know much more about cars than i do and they all agreed that the the Struts are not 'Shot' but are not great either. When I have brought the car in for other services the mechanics always tell me that they need to replae the strut and the mount at the same time. My fear is that I'll pay around a 1000.00 for new struts and mounts and not have much better improvement over rough road. Has anyone replaced either just the struts and/or mounts? Are you happy that you did it or is better to just live with the rougher ride. The ride is not terrible but does get annoying. NOTE: the cahnce of doing the work myself is slim to none
Thanks as always,
Bud

I had to replace the mounts as I was getting a knocking noise over even the slightest bumps in the road. felt replaceing the struts at the same time was money well spent. By the way independent shops may be a lot cheaper and KYB as well as Monroe sell struts for our cars. The KYB brand is probably the OEM manufacturor......
