Car had about 100k miles, and shock seemed to be shot, so I went ahead and replaced the shock, bearing etc - except the spring. I did this just in the front for now.
The noise seemed to have disappeared..but then it reappeared, and perhaps more loudly than before. I think the shocks were installed correctly, so i do'nt think the shocks are causing it anymore../
The noise is basically a lot of clunking sound in the front..I can even feel it on my toes..something is like clunking..
What could it be? Could it be the endlinks? What else could cause clunking noise in that area, other than shock/strut???

I assumed you replaced the upper shock mount? Also did you get the key (flat splot) positioned properly in the upper shock mount. You might also check the stabilizer bar end links attachment to the shock strut, the dealer left mine unhooked once.... Other than than the colder weather seems to make the upper mounts more noisey. Some have lubricated them with some sort of lubricant, but I cant remember which one....

I spray WD-40 all over them and also the in the small holes at the top of the shock towers accessible in the engine compartment. I though about using some lithium grease, too. I also 100% agree with cold weather, we just started getting cold weather here (at altitude) and I also hear a clunk or two on occasion.

Endlinks are defiinitely hooked. I did it myself.

Yes, the upper mount is what fails, I really dont believe the shock is the noise, but I replaced mine as well. The rubber in the mount becomes loose under pressure and is a known problem. Lexus supposedly re-designed it on later years....

I wish someone told me before I replaced the shocsk in front.
I will go ahead and order the upper mounts on the rear..
How about swaybar endlinks? Are they prone to go bad as well?

Havent heard of the sway bar mounts going bad, but I havent gone after them. You are in NJ where weather is a lot harsher than here in Cal. so suspension parts take more of a beating.
