And final shot of this piece after we added some paint to it.

Now, this exhaust work cost with tax just under $180 USD. Now, when I drove out of the place, I noticed the vehicle was a little more firm, no lags or sudden soft spots in the acceleration, which is what it was maybe a year ago until this issue started occuring with the popping noise.

Now, I still wasn't done for the day. So I headed over to my uncle's where my cousin Rodrigo and I went to work modifying an air intake piece that I had unsuccessfuly used in this thread, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=291398

I am not to keen about this one either, but it doesn't have the issues it appears that the other one had. Well let me just show you what I did.

Well what we did was cut off the top part of that piece so that the excess ram air coming out (which was the big problem with the original piece) could exit easily. The vacuum of the combution process should easily allow the ram air to come in, we'll see a bit better why shortly.

Now as you saw in that air intake thread, there was a little cooking pot heat shield, we will still be using it. Now, I placed a small plastic ring I cut out inside and glued it at this point shown. I'll get to the reasoning behind this in a second.

Now I painted the piece black and then put it into this plastic coupler here.

And then I inserted it like this.

And then I turned it upside down like this.

Now you remember the ring I stuck inside that cooking pot piece earlier. Well, the top front part of this black piece here will be attached to it. The cooking pot will rest on top of it with the force of gravity.

One might ask, after carefully looking at this why I didn't cut the black piece like I did and not leave a ring at the end so it could fit into the hole on the cooking pot piece. Reason being is that it will crack very easily and those pieces could then end up flying into the engine. This is a safer option.

Finished piece, first photo. I had to use another washer on the MAF sensor as the other one was actually cracking part of the plastic, but having a bigger one appears to have done the job, you might remember this thread talking about the reason I use a washer here, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=292508

Now, I did go to the track, but Saturday night I had to oversee the ops, and I don't mean I run a few times and then sit up in the tower. We had a lot of people Saturday night including my buddies at NipponPower, which would realistically be the closest thing in terms of a club in Mexico that would be inclusive of Lexus and Toyota. Honda Civic fans have at least two clubs of their own, so always a pleasure to have them there. I got one run in at the end, but I thought the engine had been sufficiently warmed up, so that the tranny would upshift, but it didn't and I wound up getting an 18.6, which ain't bad for the scenario but not for testing purposes.

I will get another chance at 4 p.m. today as we have to run a special Sunday event.

I did notice that the intake has kind of a diluted, slightly tinny sound to it. It sounds kind of like having the top pitch of a turbo sound of a car, which is what a friend of mine at the track described when he heard it run down on its only run. I also heard it and tried to make a few videos of it, but I don't think I got the sound, but will try again today as it is interesting.

This was a video I took of the engine bay with the engine on, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiWka2Atzww

Another video of the acceleration on a road last night, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSAYv7DUsgE

One final one, window open, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU-3QdGCpjk

You may want to compare the sound with some of those other highway videos I have and see if you notice any difference.

Well that was my Saturday.
