Thanks.

Youtube has been slow all morning. Tried to look at some track videos some people took last night, but also couldn't bring them up.

One of the videos I was looking for was of a Pathfinder Armada from last night, but it could only manage 17.6 best time. Kind of scratching my head on this one as I have seen one run 16s, but now wondering whether that other one was pumped up, like maybe a Stillen Supercharger, cause both sure sounded different.

I ran 9 times before the track officially opened yesterday, actually about 11, since there were two untimed runs until I could get at least one other track person to help me set up the electronic timing units. First 3 runs with the newer intake above resulted in 18.3 to 18.5, keep in mind according to our now fixed weather unit 77F, 29.82 pressure, and 26% humidity. Those times are good for that weather and also were solo runs. We stuck in the old steel y-pipe intake, times drop down to 18.5 to 18.6 on three runs. Stuck new intake in again, results repeated 18.3 to 18.5, thus I would expect in night runs to be a few tenths faster.

I did confirm that Armada I mentioned a few posts above was one tricked out with a supercharger albeit badly tuned, where as the other one ran stock 17.6 to 17.9. We had a BMW X5 4.8 that ran a 15.7, but that doesn't surprise me.

I also noticed a hiss on the end of the exhaust when I hit it on WOT throttle, will try to have my father get a video with this sound, as it is not apparent when I take a video from my driver's viewpoint.

That would be a blessing for me, as since we are both Floridians, last thing I want when I finally come home is having too loud of an exhaust.

haha, well i mean, yours is probably louder because of the intake, but my little "texas turbo" muffler isn't anything quiet. theres always that hemi that will be that annoyingly loud exhaust on the road...so your safe!

You know what is insanely loud, and even just stock, is the V8 VW Touraeg. One of my neighbors, the one who also had the BMW X5 4.8, has this Touraeg and at WOT throttle it's intolerable.

It's nice to hear a little German sounds though, not complaining. btw I saw this guy on youtube, wait til he posts his vids here. I told him to join and he has, he's Kduce. Pretty sick lookin RX

Thanks.

There is still more work to do. I'd like to run with the things I have for at least one week, but likely longer.

I have been giving consideration to replacing this resonator shown here.

With the Arvin muffler currently on the back (which is a 2 in and 2 out muffler) and start the y-pipe not after the resonator as is currently, but starting it right after where the O2 sensor is in the previous picture. Then on the back having the y-pipe go into an APC or Magnaflow as we once discussed.

That way the y-pipe will actually go through this Arvin muffler (which would become the resonator).

I am highly aware I am ramming about the limit of air that I can through the intake and MAF sensor as I continue to get pending P0171 errors with impunity, get enough of them and the CEL comes on, which is nothing.

Another issue I am aware of (and so other are other racers and even Hangar 1) is that we have all noticed our combustion isn't as efficient as it was last year at this same time. I talked to a few friends that showed up at Hangar 1 on Saturday who were getting their cars checked out on the gas analysis machine (like for emissions testing) and one guy with a brand new Mini Cooper S that had raced the night before was pissed off that he didn't pass the mandatory emissions testing that morning (he had been on a temporary permit as he just got the car). I hear more and more cases of this down here and to me that leads me to believe the gas has issues again, where as I thought when they got the ultra low sulfur premium last year around this time, it was blessing, but I wonder now if the efficiency has dropped off.

I tested my truck out and it wasn't getting nearly the same combustion it did 6 months ago, 25% higher on HC (hydrocarbon levels). A guy with VR6 Jetta was also complaining to me about the same thing.

I may actually consider something in the way of getting a more efficient spark, whether that is from a plasma ignition or even I may give those pulstar plugs a shot (since I considered Mexican gas would be an idea situation for them).
