How do you change DRL to brighter ones?
Hi,
I was wondering does anybody know how to change the Daytime Running Lights to brighter ones? I looked under the hood and tried to unscrew it, but apparently there seems to be a philip screw holding the socket or something. I want to change it to brighter ones because they have a cloudy film on it. Can anybody make suggestions on how to take it out? Thanks ahead of time.
As you can see, I have installed the Rod Millen chrome brush guard and Harrier emblem.

If the "cloudy film" is on the lens, I'd clean the lens with something like Zaino Z14. I'd vote against brighter DRLs; remember how annoyingly bright the early GM DRLs were. I wouldn't intentionally do that to every other driver on the road.
The evidence for DRLs is questionable to begin with, in some minds. And it appears that Toy/Lex is having second thoughts about them, since they are switched in the new Camry (and presumably, the ES).

cloudy film
Cloudy film is on the inside of the HB bulb and is the result of operating the bulb at low DRL voltage. The DRL voltage dropping resister is mounted under the main battery plate and you could make the DRLs marginally brighter by shorting around this resister.
The HBs are operated in series in DRL mode and thus the best you can do is 6 volts each.
Your other choice is to disconnect the resister altogether and always remember to turn on the LBs. That's what I did.
