Default RX300 extended warranty deal breaker..Help!!

I thought I bought a 01 rx300 w/76k. The extended warranty on the lexus website states 7 yr 75K for 1600 dollars. the way i understood it. thats not correct. you have to buy the vehicle new, and then buy this warranty.

they are offering me 2 yr or 25,000 miles for $1100. which is a year and a half for me at 18-20K per year.

Would you buy this vehicle with this warranty?
The trans and engine sludge makes me nervous.

it has been exclusivly serviced at the dealership. does that mean it will be covered on the trans and sludge? Ive heard it helps.

I dont know what to do.

I was supposed to pick it up today.

The sludge thing should be pass/fail that you can figure out right now. I think if you pull a valve cover you will have your answer. You are covered for a few more years either way. http://www.oilgelsettlement.com/

The transmission is a crap shoot on any car. If the fluid currently looks decent and it has not been abused I would think it is a good gamble.

25k miles will give you plenty of time to figure out if it has any problems. IMO

What are you looking at paying if you don't mind? No harm in beating them up some more on price if you are not covered for as long as you thought.

Figure they have $13-$14 in it maybe a little more.

Default Thanks. 15K is the price

Pass/Fail?

It has had a main seal replaced.
Not sure on the trans fluid replacement.

does anyone know the code for that?
There are a bunch of codes for service, that I dont know what they are.

Im paying 15K.
They offered me a warranty up to 100k for $1100.

I was going to see if they would throw it in.
or at least get a flush and fill f thrown in. worth $150.00 or so.

I think i will pull the trigger..again.
offer was signed last week,

I was picking it up today, and got cold feet.

thanks
Mike

By pass/fail I mean that if it is already a problem it should not be too hard to figure it out. If it is not currently a problem as long as you keep up with the changes you should be fine.

Yea, get the trans serviced for free if they can not prove when it was last done. It won't cost them enough to care.

Does not sound like a bad deal considering that it is in excellent condition.

How do you feel about synthetic ATF?

Amsoil is sold by a guy at work.

Amsoil is largely untested (by independent labs) stuff marketed by as pyramid scheme. It has a very good reputation. Many racers use it with good feed back. But the lack of proper testing and the Amway sales technique has always turned me off. You will hear many people speak well of it and it may be good stuff.

I wish there was a full synthetic that I felt good about. I just can't get on the Amsoil bandwagon myself.

Sounds like a go, as for amsoil, I have heard nothing but good. Redline ATF is also been given positive feedback. Either way if you stay with Toyota Type IV have the fluid changed evey 15k miles and you should be fine. As for the warranty to 100k get them to reduce the cost. I also suggest using synthethic engine oil, you will eliminate any concerns about sludge then.

Your probably fine, I switched to full synthethic from a blend at around 100k miles. I am now at 146k miles. All looks fine and absolutely no oil useage between changes. I do mine at 3 to 4 k intervals.
