We just picked up a 2001 RX-300, with 193K. It was previously owned by a Lexus mechanic, so it is very sound, even with all of those miles. I am looking forward into getting into this one. I looked over the struts and the boots are torn on both backs, so I expect that I will be replacing those sometime this summer.

The windshield has been replaced; the timing belt and water pump was replaced earlier this month; the tires are all brand new, including the spare (something the frequently gets missed); oil seals were replaced last year (leaks), so no leaks on it as far as I can find.

I am the 3rd owner, but I think it is the original engine and tranny. All of the body panels are original - checked that on walk-around before purchasing.

I am getting the rear brake error on the dash when the lights are turned on, so I will be troubleshooting that one this next weekend.

it should be the same as TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 01-07 , LEXUS ES 99-02, RX 98-03

Anything with the U140E or F transmission code

see if a junk yard will sell one before trying a dealer parts counter

I think it might be part # 35103-48024, retails for less than $20 over here.

210,000 as of today had since 2006 with 35,000 had to rebuild tranny at 160. knock sensors at 180. Lots of other problems also still love the car though.

2001 Rx300 with 202K miles. I'm the original owner and the car has been trouble-free. I'm diligent about regular oil changes and maintenance. Hope to keep it for another five years!

Ours flipped to 400K several months ago. My 18 year old son has been driving it for the last year so I'm not sure how long it might go now.....The only mechanical items I have had to replace is the transmission, knock sensors and 1 of the HID headlight bulbs. 5k mile oil change using M1 and Toyota filter. She does not burn any oil or have any leaks at all.
Edit...I had to replace the blower motor last month. I was very upset that it failed! LOL

Wow... I enjoyed your comment about being upset.

Any wear on control arms/tie rods/ ball joint etc?

Wow! No timing belt? Starter? Steering parts? Spark Plugs? Drive shafts? Brakes? Surely a bit more than you listed.

You're making me very very encouraged - and happy that I'm now in the fold.

Brake pads, battery, oil + filter, tires, plugs, filters are considered consumable ,, just like gasoline.

Agreed; although using that logic, anything that wears out in over the course of 400,000 miles could be termed "normal wear and tear" - but it's helpful to be able to identify and quantify just how often and how costly such items were - and weather or not merely rebuilding the car's "consumables" over the 400K was not an issue worthy of mention.

Wow, that is fantastic! I can't even imagine hitting 400K.

Mine is a 2000, and I'm at 97K. I've replaced both a/f sensors, the antenna, the timing belt and water pump
