I recently had a new antenna rod & pipe assembly installed & now my antenna extends even if just the CD player is on. It used to extend only for the radio and if i switched from radio to CD it would retract. It's not a big deal but it is working differently than it used to. My Lexus dealer said that is how it is supposed to work but I know that it used to retract for CD. Please let me know how your 2002 RX300 antenna is operating. Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about this.
I actually think you are better off with it wired that way.
The Lexus is my wife's and I know for a fact she always uses her sound system.
I also know she is constantly changing from a CD to FM back to a CD, let's see what's on the radio....
...you get the picture?
Do you have any idea how many antenna motors I'm going to go through on that car?
If only the antenna would go up when she powered on the sound system and stayed on till she powered off.
Count your blessings.

^^Same on my '00 RX 300. I had the unfortunate experience of being in a carwash when I stupidly ejected a tape, causing the radio to default back to FM and extend the antenna. That big overhead brush did a number on my antenna before I could stop the proceedings. Cost me $125 to have it fixed, but I learned my lesson. Consider it tuition to the school of hard knocks . . .

My 2002 RX300 antenna goes up whenever the audio is operating (CD, FM, tape, etc.) It's not a very smart design by Pioneer IMO. The 2001 and prior Nakamichi unit only extends the antenna when radio is used.
