Transmission fluid
Hello All,
I am a old member(Francis 99' RX). I forgot my password so I re-registered again. Anyway, I have 120k on the clock and I am going to change the transmission fluid DIY. Is DEXRON III/MERCON ok for my 99' RX? Thanks

NO.
Use Toyota Type IV or better. Do not confuse type II/III of Dexron with Toyota.
There has been quite a few threads on which brand/type is/are better. I suggest you do a search or takes the easiest and acceptable way out by sticking with Toyota Type IV ... available from Toyota and Lexus parts.

Use the genuine Toyota Type IV only. Do not use the cheap Dexron/Mercon, or snake oil sold underground.
I got 115K miles in Colorado mountain roads and extreme temperature with Type IV. Never an issue.
