99 RX300 won't start/turnover - Need Help asap!!!

Oh, come on, it's not that bad. I think people who trade/sell before the warranty runs out have a higher per-year cost. (My extended warranty runs out in 250 miles and I'm not planning to trade or sell).

I understand Bob,I will say for the most part, theese vehicles are of good quality, and built to last.(Cons very high cost for parts,Lexus dealers are just off the wall for what they charge. But when you buy a high end vehicle,I suppose this is what to expect.BTW I am very pleased with mine so far.

My mechanic just replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor (whatever this is) the car then startup. He said he had checked the fuel pump, electrical and none of it was the problem until he trace back and found this item to be "no current going through). $400! Hopefully this will do it. I'm still worrying that tomorrow it'll die on me again while the car is driving. What is this thing and how can it stop the car from running while I am driving? You think this could
be it? To answer the earlier question, no I don't have any remote starters.
Thanks

Changing keys seem like an unrelated incidence.

Forgot one very important question. If this is the piece that is bad, why is it that it died yesterday morning while I'm driving? The car is already started, running and moving? How could it stop the engine as it did? Thanks

If that is the faulty part, its like salimshah explained, and it doesnt matter if it was allready started or not.I know on the obd1 computers, they didnt always get a cel for the cps,I thuoght obd11 wuold have picked up the bad sensor,(asuming that is the culprit)

Does Crank Position senor contribute to CEL? Usually that thing would be good or bad and when it goes bad, no spark. Unlike other sensors which operate over a range and can give out "out of range info".
Some one who has the book on all codes can do a reverse look up and make a informed statement.

On crankshaft position sensor, it is possible for no code or pending code to come up, hence no light. I know a BMW a friend of mine worked on drove him bonkers (no code) and they couldn't figure it out, until someone suggested the crankshaft position sensor.
It could be just a brief electrical short or issue and the crankshaft sensor can't send its signal and poof, engine shuts off.

Well, I picked up the car since last night and drove 40 miles to Jersey. So far the car drive like it should with no issue. Hopefully this is what the problem is and it now resolved. Actually the cost to fix is $200, but the diag cost $200. Well better than a car that won't start. Thanks Salim and Lexmex and all others.......
