Default 99 RX300 won't start/turnover - Need Help asap!!!

My rx300 just won't turnover, it cranks but can't turnover like no gas or something. I can't be the IACV since it did not trun. It's not the battery since it will crank, it's just like not getting gas. I drove it all day yesterday and last night and now I can't start it. Please help ASAP. Thanks

Only thing that comes to my mind is,poss. fuel pump failure,or the key chip/antitheft disablement feature has gone bad. Ecm failure, check all your fuses too.

OK, I can check the fuse fairly quick but not sure how I can check the ECM failure or fuel pump? Any advise... or bring it to the shop, this means I have to have it tow,, more cost..... Thanks

well, the situation you have here is,vehicle ran fine yesterday, inop today. This may sound a little silly, but to help find out if its the fuel pump is,get another person to help you with this.Have him/her turn the key on (not start) while you listen down by the fuel tank,if you hear a light buzz (doesnt last long)then chances are the pump is still good.If you hear nothing at all, poss.pump failure. Also wait a little in between, cause if fuel pressure is up,it may not need to come on.Personaly, sounds to me more like that theft disablement, try another key.

If you check what I suggested with fuel,as far as ecm checking, you will probably need a shop for that. But chances of ecm failure are slim to none anyway. That would be my last thing to investigate.

The key did it. I used my other key to start it and it worked. I then retry with the bad key, it now starts with it too. Kinda weird..... But thanks!!!!

Just curious if the bad key is any use. It does have all the door opener and so on. Wonder if the key can be fixed, of course a diy fix?

From what you describe .. cranks fine but the engine fails to catch can be due to imobilizer. Although there could be other things that can cause it fail to run, but since the other master Key made it to work, the probability is that the imobilizer is acting up.

The imobilizer is specific to Lexus, so I would suggest take it to them. Maybe they can confirm it is the imbolizer by hooking the RX to their diagnostic machine.

Remember to take all keys to them.

Also try removing other objects that might interfere with the key -> sensor. (the sensor is close to where you insert the key).

I would not attempt to re-program is the system is flaky (say some thing is wrong with the sensor). You never know what got stored in the ECU.

I agree with salimshah, sounds like you may have to bite the bullet on this one my friend.Take it to lexus.Last resort i know, but unless some one elese on the board can give additional advice,I dont know what elese to tell you.And i`m sorry to say,but most of the independant shops out their really dont know how to properly deal with the type of problem like your experiencing now.At least on lexus anyway.People that buy theese vehicles new,are smart enough to trade/sell them before the warranty runs its course.Unfortunately I am not in that category either.

Does the vehicle have an aftermarket Remote Start?

Does the 'anti-theft' light begin rapid flash when the key is turned?
