Default Rx300 vs cayenne

Hey guys im brand new to the forum and i drive a 2001 Rx300 black on tan.Ill post pics as soon as i can. I just bought the car 1week ago and love it, i was just wondering my friend has 2006 cayenne the basic model with only 250Hp. If i were to race him to 60 or 70 would i win? i know Suvs are not meant to got fast but do you think i could take him on? and lastly which car would be more compilable off road. the rx has some good height.

thanks guys and im glad to be a part of this forum.

[Disclaimer],,, racing on public streets is illegal.

When it gets to racing, lot depends on the driver and the type of road ... straight run or curves.

Off roading capability requires clearance and type of power transfer and tires. Early model AWD RX were equipped with viscous coupling for rear. It would not move in a scenario when both tires OF SAME side lost their grip. FWD with traction could get out. I am not familiar with Cayane's power transfer technique. In summary you can rig up a course where one would go through and the other may not.

I think it is like pissing contest. Just enjoy your vehicles. My personal opinion is the Cayene may be better vehicle head to head. Back when RX was introduced '98-'99, it was the King.

i agree that racing on streets is very bad, it would most likley be done at a drag strip.

Welcome to the Club.

I have beaten such a vehicle in a legitimate 1/4 mile race, the Cayenne V6, but you might have more trouble without modifications, assuming both drivers drive the same. Just over 70 mph is when I hit the finish line at my altitude.

I have seen information on the web showing the V6 Cayenne has a comparable time to what Lexus posts for the RX300 (16.6/16.8) in the 1/4 mile, but I am of the opinion that the RX300 really hits low 17s.

Where he should take it to is a track where these things can be OFFICIAL and LEGAL, that is why I mentioned legitimate in my last post.

The one I faced off against got exactly what the 1st gen. Acura MDX that went up against me (and also a Honda Pilot got), 18.3. The race did not look that close because my opponent (there is a human factor) got a terrible start off the light (that does not affect your time, but does affect who wins).

Keep in mind that to even get to the mid-18s at my altitude required modifying the air box, direct flow muffler and a few other tweaks here and there. Some vehicles like the RX300 and its V6 motor lose a lot more at this altitude, while something like a V8 will do much better (but not with as much difference from sea level). I got a 4Runner down to 16.9.

...don't try it. the Cayenne wins. Been there done that. it was legally done at a green light one night. i used the manual options of my rx but the gearbox of the cayenne had an edge on me...

Racing on the streets is illegal and very dangerous. . .

16.6 FWD and 16.8 AWD as carguy07 pointed out. A while back I was reading a Consumer Reports magazine that quoted a brand new RX330 that got 17.0.

I swore somewhere I read the Consumer Reports that did the test on the RX300 and got a 17.4.

For those curious about my times over this past weekend. 18.1 Saturday night (without the lower intake air collector) and 18.2 Sunday afternoon with the collector. I nearly took home a vehicle speed record at the line almost knocking off my 125.01 km/h speed record. I am a little discouraged by this, was hoping for a record of something, but a video I will show you in a bit of something that ran at my track yesterday might give some of you a shock.
