Default I hate my antenna

I hate the electric antenna on my 1999 RX300. Has anyone discovered or devised an antenna that fits the existing opening but does not go up and down? Or, has anyone devised a way to mount the newer RX antennas - the ones that mount on the roof - to an RX300? TIA.

Me too....I had to replace the extension tube a couple of years ago because it would jam up and got bent/stuck. Now its getting really noisy when it retracts. I've greased it (with several types of grease) and have had the dealer grease/lube/service it a few times but always after a few months it's back to being cranky and noisy.

So you want a stationary antenna? They sell fittings that will fasten to the opening and then you mount a screw on antenna to the base. The antenna of course has to be wired to the ground of the antenna wiring. Not too difficult, but why don't you like the automatic antenna, very helpful going through car washes...

I like the ones that are mounted on the roof. I don't think it would look good if you put a non moving antenna where it currently is at, never seen one.

My antenna rarely goes up if ever (usually just if my cousins want to listen to something on local radio) as XM Radio rules in my RX.

I have not gotten for the RX because it never broke, but for my Integra I went to my local radio shop and just asked them for a fitting that worked. It was $20 (all plastic, easily a $5 part) but worked fine and I connect a solid mast to it.

You can try E-bay too, but I have not had luck locating one for you, but I could be doing incorrect search strings.

Anyway, good luck.

My antenna nylon retracter/extender broke (with the antenna in the raised position), and the motor hums furiously for about 5 seconds when I turn the radio on. I'll get it in for a repair one of these days, but for now I just avoid car washes.
