I didn't actually change my timing belt, Lexus actually did it a few years back (around Dec. 2004), but I did have the timing belt changed at the same time, but not the thermostat. I was at about 82K at the time, but normally I would do it at 90K. I changed out the thermostat with my uncle in late 2005 to a TRD T-stat. I don't really see this going bad at all, just change out your coolant. I do it at least once a year. When you do your timing belt, it is also a good idea to have the accessory belts changed out at the same time.

My RX had the timing belt done at 93K miles by a non-lexus place. Guess what, right now is having the belt replaced again by Lexus due to the engine being out of timing, 3K miles later... They said that the pump is working fine and does not need to be touched at all.

it was retarded... I got it back today and I can feel the difference. As simple as it might look, these cars need the pampering from the dealer from time to time, as expensive as it can get. The invoice came to $1200 for the timing belt, all belts and two knock sensors. I'm glad the dealer paid for it.

Yeah,I was thinking of leaving the water pump go,if it seemed tight, and not leaking.Tamprx300,was that 1200.00 price includong everything?even knock sensors, and labor? If that was everything,I would say that was a good price.

Are their any so called "SPECIAL" tools needed for belt replacement?Or is it pretty much metric wrenchs/sockets?I dont want to get it apart, and not be able to continue, due to lack of proper tools.
