99 RX300'D 90k Service Questions
Hello All,
My 99 Lexus RX300'd is approaching the 90k mark...
As most of you know, it's recommended that the timing belt/water pump be changed.
I was going to have this done at an independent mechanic, who quoted me about $900 for the Tbelt/water pump and I'm assuming the alternator belt.
Just out of curiosity..I called 2 local lexus dealers who said the following..
Timing Belt special- 499 + includes alternator belt and another belt..not sure which one..
Include water pump plus labor...another 300ish total about $800
I thought I had seen some post where people were paying 1500+ to have this done at the dealer..
What do you guys have done/recommend with that service, timing belt/water pump and what else?
Thanks all

First the changing of the water-pump is optional [not a must].
90k requires changing of timing belt.
AC/alternator is one belt and steering-pump is the other. These again would be in optional but more worth it.
The 90k service includes other services like engine oil etc .. which without t-belt run 180~200.
When you go to the dealer, (without special) the whole service ranges from 900~1300.
Also be prepared to change idlers etc, once they open the engine up.
