new RX 300
#16
The next generation Rex won't be out until at least MY2003 as they ramp up the new production line in Canada. I personally wouldn't want a vehicle off of a first-year North American assembly line, as they no doubt will have to work out the kinks (look at the first gen ML320's and X5's). The current Rex factory in Japan has won numerous quality awards and is considered one of the best in Toyota's stable.
As to "too many Rxs out there", well what do you expect when you make vehicle that was Motor Trends first SUV of the year, Consumer Reports best mid-size SUV for like the last 3 years, one of the top 3 safest SUVs made, and has Lexus quality?
And trust me, as soon as Acura gets their act together, the road will be flooded with MDXs and first year owners crying because they paid above MSRP and are taking a severe depreciation hit.
We also looked at the MDX in January before getting our Rex. Acura dealers give luxury class dealers a bad name, they are nothing more than Honda salesmen trying to squeeze money out of you with over priced dealer installed accesories and crap. If you want the best customer experience, you go with Lexus.
Just my opinion, YMMV.
