And I will place it on top of this piece that runs under the fuse box.

From further back and you will notice my Sun Hypervoltage and grounding wires plus Optima battery below, too.

And here is the plastic piece in place. Now we have to put both the pipe with the MAF sensor and the air filter between that piece and the piece to the left that leads to the throttle body.

And this may give you a better idea of why that piece is there.

And now we have the finished idea. Well not quite, because I still may want to make this a bit more aesthetically pleasing, but for the moment, it is fine for testing purposes.

And this is a closer look at the front with the filter flush against the PVC piece and the bucket coming over. The PVC piece idea with the 4 to 3 inch reduction was favored over having a 3 inch pipe go straight through, because the PVC piece makes something akin to a little airbox where all that rammed in air from the front bumper hole can have a place to gather. I have noticed in my experiments over the years that this is particularly important to have something like this or the air gets dammed up and P0171 errors happen too much.

I made a short video here where I started the engine up and rev'ed it a few times after installation, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HDjbqCBMz0

You will notice toward the end that the RPM stays around 1000 RPM and this is in Park and the idle also hold steady at 750 RPM in D (not shown on the latter).

My brief road experience on the highway showed that it does have good low level torque but as you gather acceleration it appears to be not as effective as having no air filter, but the low end torque was in the seat of the pants, significantly better than without the filter.

Last night at the track revealed no real difference in times using regular fuel. Tomorrow, I plan to add the Liqui Moly additive to repair the piston rings, so we will see if that makes an improvement also.

Can I ask why you weren't using an air filter?

Ah, an excellent question, and one I was asking myself when I first moved down here as to why my RX300 was moving as slow as a cow.

7,000+ elevation, 23% less oxygen, bad gas and horrendous mpg = ditch the air filter.

It made a tremendous difference the first time I removed mine and never went back until now. In fact, you will find this is quite a common occurrence down here since gas ain't cheap, especially in a third world country.

My only 2 reasons for doing an air filter now is to test this particular filter contraption and the fact that at some point very, very soon I will be going back to Florida, where I fully intend to use an air filter.

Now, I have been using Restore oil additive for several years now, and haven't had any detectable issue, MPG is quite good, and power has been nice.
