From my recent search for GC, not every Autozone carries it. The first AZ I went to didn't have it. They said it was because they are a lower volume store. The called a high volume store and told me they stocked it there. It was a good deal for 25.99.

I am still going the 3500 to 4000 mile changes. Have since I had the vehicle brand new. I know I probably could have stretched to 5k miles aleast, but that is just me....

Don't blame you for changing oil often on these engines.

Lex, I'll be waiting... we'll have fun at the track, but not with my RX.

I'm doing a flush and switching to the German thing. BTW, I'm seeing some drops of oil in the garage. It's coming from the gasket that unites the tranny with the engine...

Castrol syntec is the stuff, but 0W30.

What is the color of the stuff you are seeing on the drops?

BTW, which track do you go out to, the one in Bradenton or the one in Clearwater?

Probably more info than you wanted, but here's a pic of the bottle from the offical German Castrol thread from "bob is the oil guy". Just be sure it says "Made in Germany" on the back. This is an older pic, so the back label changed slightly.

EDIT: Oh forgot to mention to check out post number 1 in above thread. It'll tell you how to identify the date codes on the bottle as well. I don't think green GC will NOT be findable unless someone is selling off their private stash of it.

I've noticed that the current german castrol available is API SL rated where as all the other oils, Castrol or not, are SM rated, the new certification. I haven't been able to find any GC that is SM rated. I don't think it exists. I've heard that there is a large difference in these certs - does this possibly mean that all the GC on the shelves is dated and maybe not as effective as say M1 0W-30 API-SM oil?

There is not a large performance difference, in fact, many SL oil outperform SM oil because the former use better stock and additives package.
SM has lower phosphorus content to be more catalytic convertor friendly, I have used mostly SL oil for the RX300 and OEM cat is doing fine and I pass California smog emission last December no problem. Would like to learn if someone got a bad cat just because of using older SAE certified oil but it seems to be something that has little impact to our daily driving.

The oil is def motor oil. I tried tightening the housing bolts and the three from the bottom were loose, but still getting the drops.

I've been to Bradenton and Sunshine.

I'll be in Bradenton when I get out there. We can take a look then at your leak.

Hello everyone, I went to the local AutoParts store today (Kragen's) and was walking through the aisle (picking up some HP-2009 oversized oil filters since I'm about to do Auto-RX treatment) when I decided to just buy some oil now as well. I didn't see the usual Mobil1 5W-30 sitting around....only this new green-top box from Mobil1....their "new" 0W-30 oil. Has anybody had any experiences with this? I'm not buying it at all...but the box has huge logos written all over it claiming to surpass 10W-30 and 5W-30 requirements alongside an increase in MPG's...haha. Anybody use this stuff yet? I'm about to give it a go after the AutoRX treatment.
