OEM for the RX300 is P225 /70R16.
Personally... I like to get the widest tire as possible.
Does anyone know given the OEM 16 inch rims, what is the widest that I can go that is both mountable and safe?
Also... what is the width measurement on the rim anyway?

Usually where you can fit 225, you can do 245, the trick is to find it with the right height for the SUV application. I'm going with 235 when time comes. That's if I don't get a new set of 18''s all together.

but wait... won't 245 70 16 work? Or will that rub the sidewall?

I am sure no one would buy shoes two size smaller than the size of his feet.
Then what is the point of fitting 245 tires into a 16" rim with 6.5" width. There are many ways to research what is safe:
1) "Search" in this forum
2) "Google" is your friend outside of this forum
3) Chat with mechanics at local tire
4) use common sense such as "when tire width increased by 20mm, should I, as a sensable driver, reasonably can expect the stock rim can handle it"
All of the above are free of charge.

yup, you're right, ijust checked, those size tires don't even exist. that's what you would need if they were made, but unfortunately they don't. maybe consider a nice set of 18" aftermarket wheels and tires. you can get that done for about $1000.
