how much can I expect to pay to replace all 4 shocks at Lexus or Toyota dealer?

I will be doing this myself and have a spring compressor and all the other necessary tools, but even at discounted prices from on-line suppliers the parts involved appear to cost about $1,000. And although I am certain that the insulators, bump stops, maybe mount plates, etc are bad (noticeable clunks, etc.) I am not convinced that the struts themselves have failed. However, if I'm going to take everything out and apart, it doesn't seem to make sense to not replace the struts while I'm at it. Anyone disagree?

also check rockauto.com. four struts with mounts cost about $600-700. You can search for a 5% coupon. I am still debating with myself if it is worth it since mine has almost 200k on it now.

I just came back from a Toyota dearler 3 miles from my house.
The service advisor quoted me $837 to replace all 4 shocks(including
all bushings). This price includes all parts, labor, 4-wheel alignment,
shop fees, and local taxes. On the written quote, it listed $69 for
the 4-wheel alignment. Is 4-wheel alignment really necessary if I'm
only replacing the shocks? (without it, the job will only cost $768)
He did mention that I might as well replace all four springs as well,
which would be $260 for 4 springs and $95 labor(for the additional
hour). However, he said this is purely optional and may not even
be necessary if the mechanic decides that my original springs are
still in good condition.
Is this a good price? Will the Lexus parts that a Toyota dealer order
be the same identical parts? Can I really trust a Toyota dealer's
mechanics to work on a Lexus?
Thanks!

That's an EXCELLENT price! I'm not sure how they can do it for that price if they are replacing the mounts/bearings and bushings also. As far as springs go, I see no reason to change them (springs don't "wear" out).
Same comment as before, though - do the struts need to be replaced?

I thought the front shocks of my RX were done because they were making noise. Then read the web site and put some WD40 on and they are like new again. GL
