Default Does oil age when not used???

Simple question..

What is the shelf life of oil?? I recently bought a case of oil but will not use the second half of the case for maybe a year...

Any breakdown in the oil as it sits on the garage shelf???

Thanks

Yes - sealed oil is fine. Leaving new oil in a vehicle that is going to sit for several months is a bad idea, though. Condensation becomes an issue...

Sealed oil is fine. After all, the oil has been underground for 165 million years.

About a year ago, I picked up some old German Castrol oil that had been kept by a BMW dealer here for several years in storage, still had the green (not gold color) of the original version of the stuff, ran really great. Unfortunately, that was the last batch, and on Friday I bought the gold version.
