Now, here are my issues. First, rear of the muffler here is 2 inch piping.

But the front is 2.25 inch.

Why not just make it 2.5 inch and call it a day, it is already indirect anyway?

Interior shot of the muffler from the rear. There was some garbage in there, and I hate to say it, but also a dead rat must be in there because my uncle's pit bull and chow chow stood around this thing for hours.

It consists of a straight through design with a big hole and some smaller holes on the inside. Now, with some similarity to Kire, it enters on the far side (and exists on the same far side), so that the sound waves can vibrate across instead of just half of the mufflers, to better cancel out the sound.

The entrance and exit are 2 inches in diameter.

My final comments:

I remember when I moved down here 6 years ago and it was a struggle for this poor truck to get up hills. I met a person recently that had an RX300 at the U.S. Embassy, and his comments were as much the same regarding his 2001 RX, not the greatest pickup at this altitude. Doing these modifications has not only saved me gas, but added a significant amount of power and less wear and tear on the engine and transmission as a result over what could have been a greater issue with the struggles of the terrain and environment here. You never know how valuable that extra power is until you have faced a traffic situation like exists in Mexico City.

ah yes. I think I am going to take the same approach as you have LEX. As you know I replaced the box muffler on the back with some no-name probably glasspack muffler thing. I like the sound, but as I recall the guys at the shop told me that the only way to really change the sound is to take out that huuuge resonating muffler in the middle of the exhaust system (what you did). I like the results I see, even though I can't tell how much it rumbles, but now I know that I should take that huge thing out too!

This little muffler is really nice. When you step on the gas, you have to push it a further bit down to feel the power hit, but it does pickup really quickly, and you might not even notice it, because it is so smooth, you just have to be aware of how fast you are going.
