Default The last exhaust modification in Mexico (and it was a good one)

Over the years, most of you have become accustomed to my exhaust modifications in this forum. This latest one is no exception and I can tell you this muffler that I installed on Saturday is the BEST I have ever used or seen on any vehicle. Kire is a company that is known locally as having the best quality of custom-made mufflers. My uncle and I went down to Colonia America, just south of Chapultepec Park, here in Mexico City and arranged to have a custom-fabricated muffler designed for my vehicle. Kire was also very happy to work on my Lexus, the first that they had ever seen. My friend Mario Gamba of www.grillosracing.com.mx, regularly uses them for muffler work for the Volkswagen Beetle Turbos they sell.

Well, my day started at their facilities. I backed the RX in and we got to work.

One week ago, we had the RX looked and I described what I was looking for and my uncle and I along with Kire came up with a design.

We then jacked up the rear of the truck.

Then it was time to remove the big box muffler (this is where the new muffler is going to go, a.k.a. to be used as a resonator).

Some closer shots. These are twin 2.25 inch wide pipes.

Now, some of you may have noticed that the cat is deadly close to one of the braces that help hold the propeller shaft together.

We had to them make a cut in front of the cat, to angle the cat away from this location. This issue cropped up to a bad previous weld and actually had an issue with an exhaust leak in front of the cat.

More cutting and this pipe will be used to pull the cat away from the propeller shaft.
