I ask, 'cause I'd swear, when I dropped the pan to check on things after draining the fluid last year, the filter was a fiber filter.
The mesh, from what I've read, while it has little resistance, is actually a better filtering mechanism...and it lasts forever.
I've put our psuedo-truck on a 30K mile transmission drain/refill, after seeing burned fluid around 60K miles.
We bought the vehicle with 30K miles on it, and the transmission was never looked at according to the service records which came with it. I DIY everything, and I know I'd not replace a metal mesh filter with a 'paper' one.
Thanks!

McKelly,I thought the mesh filters were stock, but when I changed mine on my 01,it had the other kind on it too,(Paper type)but Im not sure if it was done before, because mine already had 77,000 miles on it when I bought it.However,I did replace with the mesh type filter, and I think the shifting is a little better.Sometimes my 1st to 2nd gear is sloppy, and sometimes it shifts as it should.I wish I could get to the bottom of that.Really hurts your off the line performance, when a nissan murano is next to me @ a stop light

And you can get these from a knowledgeable dealer, correct?
I have a part number of 35330-06010, but in looking at this online, it seems this can be the fiber filter, too.
It's the same filter as in a RAV4, and certain other Toyotas, and I've found the Toyota prices are always much less than the Lexus joint, so I'll just go there. I saved around 30% on trans fluid when I bought a case of it.
