Does any one have extended warranty on you RX 300? A quote for mine (03 AWD with 51k mi) for full coverage is about $2000 for 4 yrs or 100k mi on speedometer. What is your opinion on extended warranty? If you are using it, how difficult is it when it comes to claim? which company?

I've got an extended warranty for my Accord, which is '05 and only got 35k miles. A warranty at warrantydirect.com for 5 yrs / up to 125k miles was only $1,600 with $50 deductible, and that's bumper to bumper, not just powertrain. The quote I got for them for my RX was around $1,800 for powertrain only until 100k miles, and i think it's not worth it. My thinking is that neither the engine nor the transmission are likely to give before 125k on the RX, and anything else like starter, alternator, etc. I can fix myself possibly lot cheaper than $1,800.

Don't waste your money:

You should be able to get it a lot cheaper than $2000,
Extended warranty companies go bust every day,
Your 2003 RX300 has no major failure items (like the 1999-2001 transmission),
You can get an awful lot of repairs done for $2000!

If you do go for it, look for what is NOT covered, not what is covered - you may be surprised!
