Just a few additions as I've done this procedure many times on my 02 RX - 169K miles. The "soft asian screws" that this thread refers to are not Phillips. They are JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) #2 size. Just buy a JIS #2 screwdriver from Amazon or otherwise and you'll be fine SLOWLY getting them off and on without stripping. Instead of leaving the lower hose on when cleaning the right side air hole, remove the hose and put on a solvent resistant rubber stopper/cap. Fill the hole then let it sit for 5 min before turning the metal stem. Now take off the cap and put a rag under the metal "spout" and, after letting the first batch drain out) spray some more while turning the stem. Don't use carb cleaner! My buddy blew out an O2 sensor by using this. Use Toyota brand or CRC brand Throttle Body cleaner only. When done with this part, use a lint-free rag and spray on the cleaner. SLOWLY push open the throttle plates and wipe the contact area where the plates contact the throttle body housing. The Car Care Nut on you tube has a good video on doing this. This contact area is the only area that matters with these plates. You can clean deeper if you want but it won't do any thing valuable. Let's keep these beautiful 1st Gens on the road!!!
