Default Dead Battery vs. Throttle issue?

Yesterday my rx was fine. Went to start this morning, and it will not start. When I turn key, i get display panel, air, radio and gauges work, but I just hear a clicking noise and no power.

Would you assume this is a battery? Or something else?? Can we give it a jump - will it make any difference, just to get it to the mechanic?

Thanks!

Get a jump, if it starts then the battery is possibly bad, either from age or a alternator that is not charging...that is the first step...by the way a dome light left on all night on a old battery can cause quite a drain.

Being down in Texas, you probably don't have to worry that much about cold-cranking-power. The Costco battery is a good deal, if you need a new battery. There has been discussion here in the past that the batteries made by Johnson Controls (who make batteries for many, many labels) are good. I went with the Costco battery myself. If the original Panasonic were available, I would have considered that, but it's not.

I would recommend sealed battery (it will add to the cost) but no fumes or nasty sprays form a lower quality battery.

Ok, we don't have a Cosco card, but could get one.

I talked to my neighborhood Toyota dealer and got a quote for 69 and 79, depending on what batt I choose. $30 to insall.

I'll let my husband pick.

Thanks again!

Sams and Wal-mart handle Interstate which is an excellent mid-price brand. I think I paid something like $72 installed in my 330. Don't let that installation cost bother you - it's an easy DIY with a wrench and about 15 minutes.

Clean and grease the battery terminals and cable clamps well before installing to prevent corrosion and future problems.

For that install price get a Costco membership and buy the battery cheaper.
it takes a whole 10 minutes to change....enjoy...
