Default spare tire

For the 1999 RX300, what kind of wheel came with the spare tire? Is it the simple steel or the alloy (same as the other 4)?

when you said regular, are you saying the spare tire has the same wheel as the other 4?

The reason I asked is... I took my car to the shop to have all 5 tires replaced the other day. When I checked the spare tire last night, it has steel rim on it. I remember the spare tire has the same alloy wheel as the other 4 when I purchased the car new. Did the shop do the switch or is my memory isn't correct?

I think what Lexus114 is saying is that, unless you paid extra for a 5th alloy wheel, you got a steel spare wheel as standard equipment in 1999. I reason I word it this way is that I have a 2002 model and got the 5th alloy wheel as standard equipment.

That's correct as far as I know, my 2000 RX 300 had a black spoked steel wheel for the spare, That's really kinda dumb on an AWD where you want to rotate tires to even up wear - otherwise you end up replacing a spare every 5-6 years that has never been on the ground but may be dry rotted.

I know. I had to pay another $100 to replace the spare that never been used. I had to replace it because the tire was 9 years old.
