That's what I have and I am very happy with them. I am planning to get these for my Honda Accord when the time comes.

I've got all of these parts from Amazon though since Amazon had free shipping and was a bit cheaper.

 

My 187K mule is very happy with them on him.

 

I just received the new front/rear Brembos and new front/rear Akebono Pro Act Ceramic pads:



Two CL members, passnu2 (Mike) and Brian231, will be helping me do this job. I searched through the forums and found a bunch of useful threads.

I am using this thread to help with rotor removal. I might go and purchase 2 8mm bolts with 1.0 pitch to help remove the rear rotors, since they look pretty rusted.

Questions:
Do I need to flush the brake fluid?

Any other tips for replacing rotors and pads?

Brake fluid needs to be replaced every 2 to 3 yrs.

Use a fresh bottle of fluid.

I think those are most popular set up now on this forum.
I did my rear ones over a year ago. I remembe e-brake needs to be released or it will keep the rear rotor from coming off. One 8mm bolt should be enough since once break free, the rotor should come right off.

 

So we ran into some problems today. After installing everything the right rear wheel gets VERY hot. There is a blue circle around the inner part of the new rotor. I also saw some smoke coming from the area. Even the wheel is hot to the touch. We only drove the car 1/4 mile and less than 30 mph. While we were installing the brake pads we found that the caliper did not twist up. The caliper pin seemed to have been broken. The drivers side was fine and the pin was in tact.We think this is the culprit and we decided it wasn't safe to drive. Tomorrow we are going to get it towed to a brake place and have a new caliper installed.

What do you guys think?

 

^^VikH I just was out side and its still blue but not hot??

 

Here are the pics Mike sent to me. I have no idea why it turned blue. Does anyone have any ideas for me? We think it is due to excessive heat. Thanks

 

Just for reference if anyone else has this problem: I had my caliper replaced and all is well. I guess since the caliper was so old, the pin that rotates the caliper up had broke at some point.

 

They do break. I had one of mine brake in Mexico and we had to get one that a bolt that was off a Pathfinder.

 

Seams like all points have been touched already. The original photos posted indicated signs of uneven wear on the rotors resulting from seized caliper slider bolts which must be serviced (lubricated) every time the pads are replaced.

Also a good idea is to have the brake fluid changed at the same time. I got my calipers lubed, rotors replaced and pads replaced along with fluid flushed all at local toy dealer for $900 cad. Lexus wanted $1600

No worries as I only plan on having this done once every 4 years. Your brakes are the most important part of your car, after you've got it moving.
