ABS Issue Update
Many may remember that I have a ABS actuation issue at under 5 mph just prior to stopping. I measured the resistances of all the wheel sensors, all were fine. I took a scope home from work, and observed the sine wave readings and AC voltages from each sensor. Three sensors were around 400 millivolts, one sensor read just over 3 volts. I took out the sensor that read the higher voltage and found the reluctor ring (toothed ring on the driveshaft) is loose. I can rotate it 3 or 4 teeth in each direction. I think that this might be the problem.
The apparent bad driveshaft is on the right rear. I cannot remove the driveshaft without dropping the exhaust. Have any of you removed a rear driveshaft on the right side? Any hints on removal, installation and where to buy.
thanks
Duane

I have done that on the front left and right sides. It's a bit complicated, but not too much. I'd have to think about this for just a bit to remember kind of the procedure we used. Still trying to figure out where exactly you are seeing this issue with the teeth, a photo would help with this.

Lexmex,
If you look through the ABS sensor hole, you can see the toothed ring. If I stick a screwdriver in through this location, I can move the toothed ring up and down one tooth without the halfshaft spinning. (It is loose). I will try an get a picture this next week-end.
When I tried to get the rear halfshaft off, it was pretty hard to compress the shaft to clear the differential flange studs. Any advice would be great.

This requires taking off the wheel and removing the cotter pin on the drive shaft lock nut (and then the nut itself).

And then removing the 4 nuts on the side of the rear differential. You see one of the bolts in the lower left part of the photo. I wish I had diagrams to more fully show this.

Lexmex,
Your exactly right. On the passenger side (rear), the exhaust is in the way of dropping the axle down. I did remove the large axle nut, and 4 flange nuts, but could not drop due to the exhaust. It's pretty tight trying to compress the axle to get clearance to drop past the flange studs.

I just found my driver side rear reluctor ring is loose. I see no aftermarket half-shafts for a 1999 RX300 AWD, and I'm not willing to spend what the dealer wants for it.
I was wondering if the ring could be repaired or replaced. Looking around I found these two web sites:
Makers of replacement reluctor rings: http://reluctorrings.com/
A procedure for possibly repairing a ring: http://www.evilution.co.uk/453 . Note the procedure was not for an RX300, but I suspect the details are much the same.
It's freezing right now. When it gets warmer I'll give repairing the ring a try.
