Unhappy A/t Oil Temp Sign Was Flashing.

Hey guys I got a new problem with my lexus. Once in a blue moon when i start the car after 12 hours or so the car starts but it flashes the A/T OIL TEMP and the car feels like some of the pistons are not moving,it sounds like its having a hard time. But how can the oil get hot when i didn't turn on the car for like 12 hours . Hope how this is not a big problem ...

You have an A/T temp gauge? Or are you talking about oil temp..

Go out and check your fluid level. Once in a while a high school drop out will work for these companies and on many occasions, they will 1) forget to fill up the engine with oil 2)replace the oil filter 3)forget to do an oil change in the first place.

Engine running with some pistons not moving would seem to be indicative of a pretty serious condition. Yes, it would be having a hard time indeed. If your car is making strange noises, temp warnings flashing, and the engine seems to be struggling, I'd switch it off and have it towed to the dealer for a full diagnosis before the damage gets any worse. Standard tricks like resetting the ECU or checking OBD II codes may amount to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

However, if you can get a code reader, the first thing I would do is see what the onboard diagnostics are telling you. Armed with this information, call your Lexus shop or post back up here to share. Major problems should throw one or several codes that can be tracked down to a single problem.

Maybe you have had, as GSteg noted, a oil loss - or possibly an overfill. Check all of your fluid levels and give the dipstick a good sniff for burned oil and tranny fluid. I've experienced total oil loss AND a pretty serious overfill - both within 24 hours on a 30 day-old Honda, thanks to the worst service techs on the planet doing my first oil change. Wanna know why I'm not driving a Honda? Uh-huh.

ok guys I am going to go check the oil levels one more time. It stopped doing this for a while now but I don't know if my car had a mood swing :S or something serious is wrong. I hope it is something small .
