footrest

code58 and carguy07: thanks so much for your help. Actually, the footrest is pressed onto two threaded studs. But I couldn't pull it off or pry it off. I discovered two circular plugs in the chevron embossed plastic of the footrest. They matched the pattern so perfectly that I didn't see them until someone much younger with better eyes than mine pointed them out. Turns out that simply inserting a wide bladed screwdriver into a slot in the plug pattern and turning counterclockwise while gently lifting up on the footrest freed each post easily. No thanks to Lexus for being so stingy with information to help out in this situation! Thanks again code58 and carguy07.

Hi!
I'm cleaning the interior of my car and wish to remove the drivers' footrest! I'm struggling with how to remove it, even after turning plastic chevron type screws. Can anyone tell me how I'm meant to remove this without breaking anything?
Thank you!

I can only speak for the 2002 model
I am trying to locate a front driver's side water leak in a 2001 RX300. I need to pull back the carpet but cannot remove the darned footrest. Does anybody know how to do this? The Lexus repair manual merely says remove footrest - install footrest, with no directions as to how to do so. Huntsvill Lexus says it is bolted in. Can't find any nut or bolt. My brother who is a mechanic says it should slide on over a flanged pillar. Help! Thank you.
