Default Atf Filter Change W/o Small Black O Ring

Hi,
I changed transmisson fluid for tranny pan, tc and the front differential and the new filter. But i didnot find my old o ring (black plastic ring) for the atf filter. So i install without it. Any problem for this tranny ? Now i feel that my tranny is not smooth. It has 98k mileages. suggestions welcome.

When I was changing my filter it did not come out with the filter but was stuck in the inlet where the filter meets the transmission. I had to pull out manually. The same thing might have happened to yours. If so I wouldn't worry about it as when you were putting the new filter back in it should have inserted itself back in........but the only way to find out for sure is to open it back up.

I have done that and can tell you I had no issues whatsoever, not even a loss in pressure. However, one thing you always want to make sure to do is put the filter back on, even if the black o-ring isn't on there. I tried that just before I left Mexico as an experiment for better fluid flow and that caused a leak on the pan seal due to the high pressure running through the pan. Luckily, I had another seal and fixed the situation quickly.
