Let's see. Your check engine light went on a few months (or more) ago and you were told it was a bad oxygen sensor, but you didn't replace it. Several months later, with the check engine light still on, your engine started choking so you replaced the spark plugs.
I'm sorry, but if you were describing the health of your dog, I'd report you to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

I'd check again what the codes are in the computer. If the engine is choking, that could be anything from a misfire to a problem with the MAF sensor. But an A/F sensor gone bad eventually needs to be replaced at some point.

Lexmex is right, that could be a multitude of things. I know with my 99 rx300 awd i had some similar issues, at one point it got so bad the engine would die while in traffic and then wouldnt idle, replaced the maf sensor and that cleared that up, still got misfires though, i then replaced all the coil packs and spark plugs, that helped out a lot, once i did the a/f sensors though, thats when it started running like a dream again, i would do like Lexmex says, check the codes again, replace what you can, rinse and repeat

Just curious to learn when, in a normal range of mileages, the A/F sensor will become bad to die? In may be easier to know when the sensor dies, but what could be suggested when the sensor is turning bad yet the code doesn't show up?

well i could be wrong on this but im sure others would be able to correct me if i am, the OEM a/f sensors are rated for 100k miles (i think) but i dont think mine started going bad till somewhere between 130k-150k miles, basically right before i bought the car

Average life of these sensor`s appear`s to be around 60k. They are a more hi- tech sensor compared to a regular o2 sensor. I do wish they had a longer service life though, especially for the price, and location of them.
