Just a question, how often is everyone changing out their coolant?

i did a coolant flush when i first got the car 2 years ago this month buuuuuut it was done through jiffy lube so i dont know what kind of coolant they used. Also that was roughly 50-60k miles ago and I plan on doing a flush this winter myself with the real deal from toyota.

I think most repair shops will take it.You may need to make a few phone calls.

Take the old coolant back to Jiffy Lube.

Local laws are different. In Colorado, any store that sells coolant, motor oil, etc. must accept them for recycling. Though the most common excuse is "our tank is full." So just put the coolant in a container that you don't need back, and leave it with them and walk out.

Dunno, I would never take my car to Jiffy Lube. Show them the original paperwork, maybe they would.

Or look up free recycling in your city/county. Most cities and counties would do this so people don't pour toxic waste down the storm drain. My county does free hazmat recycling twice a year.

When I can't wait, I just put the fluid in milk jugs and drop them off at the local CheckerAuto store. Walk away before the clerk can lie to me that their tank is full.

Mine is drain-n-fill'ed every 30K by the dealership. Seems to work fine.

I believe that the Toyota pink coolant is pre-mixed at 50/50. So take that into account when filling the cooling system.

When I lived up near Tampa earlier this year, I saw a "tank is full" sign on virtually every auto parts store I went to.

That`s their excuse not to have to deal with it,kinda like when your dealership tells you they can`t duplicate your problem. I love that one!!
