Rear Spoiler Installation / DIY???
#2
I did it several years ago. Not too difficult, but as I recall you need to (1) drill holes in your hatch, (2) rust-proof the bare metal at those holes, and
(3) have a fairly heavy duty rivet tool. I'm fairly certain that detailed instructions came with the pre-painted spoiler that I bought from the dealer.

Correct.
I don't remember offhand anyone having done an instruction of the rear spoiler. I wouldn't consider it a DIY task as it really depends on one's own experience. I have actually with my uncle removed my old spoiler and it was a bit of a pain to do.

Many years ago, I installed a roof rack on Mazda van.
I had to exercise care in getting the hole started and also in controlling depth. 5 holes were perfect and on the 6th the drill kicked. I did not go through the liner but the sheet metal got bent.

Hi, I just bought one of these spoilers from a junk yard. It is just the spoiler OEM and the gasket. It doesn't have any hardware. Any advise on how to get it installed? I will give Lexus a call but I doubt they will have the hardware alone.

Do some search. There were some DIY threads with pictures back to yr 2001-2002. What year is your RX? If you have 99 or 00 with the old spoiler, you need to remove it first. I bought mine (group buy) from the dealer on yr 2002. It was pre-painted and the instruction included. Sorry I didn't keep the instuction. GL

It's a spoiler off an 2000 model according to the junk yard. I have a 2001 I'm installing it on. Went to Lexus today got the hardware and gaskets for just incase. There was a Type A and B style. Mine is the Type B with what looks like a pop rivet. I am going to try some blue transfer fluid to get the template. Seems pretty straight forward.
