how do i remove that plastic cover, and what screws do i remove to get a better look at the actuator?
It's been 2 1/2 years since I did them so I'm not absolutely certain but from what I remember you remove the 3 screws on the door frame that hold the latch assy. on and one 10MM bolt that holds the window channel in and then you can kind of twist the latch assy. around so that you can see the back side a little better. You shouldn't have to remove the latch, when you twist it around some, you can see the arm with the unused hole that the rod will attach to. Some have reported that they don't have the unused hole, my DIL's '99RX had them and they worked perfectly for attaching the actuator rod. My suggestion is to put the end of the rod with the 90 degree bend and the "dog knot" into the end of the actuator and then bend the other end of the rod into a modified "Z". (2- 90 degree bends) to go into the unused hole in the latch arm. You may or may not have to cut the rod a little shorter for proper length before you bend the 2-90 degree bends. I used different actuators and had to fabricate different arms so mine was a little different (and more difficult) than this. It was also unfortunately before anyone had discovered this fix. Good Luck!

Doc- Sorry, it's kind of a rough time for me right now- I'll try to get this question answered for you over the weekend if someone doesn't before then. My wife is recovering from a knee replacement and then my brother was diagnosed with a turbocytoma over the last couple of days. If your screen name means what it would appear to, you'll understand the significance of that. This is the culmination of the last 3 years.
Regards, Roger
