Default Rear Brake Pads

Replaced my rear brake pads last night, the pads on had clips on both. The replacement Akebonos had one with a clip and one without. I put the clip on the outside.

Was that correct? Looking at my picture, the inside clip (caliper circle) looks like it matches the new pad clip.

Just checked, all the original pads are indentical.

Where should the clips go, outside front, outside back, inside front or inside back? Front & back mean sitting in the caliper point toward front or back.

This is the way I had them on mine. I rechecked on pages BR-32 and BR-35 in the 2 volume service manual and they show them going inside, too, and that's because the inside pads are going to wear down further and this is a wear indicator plate (the little hook).
