Primary reason is it's availabilty for me personally.
Just remember to add a bit more oil with an oversized filter such as XG3600.
This filter is comparable to Mobil1 HP-2009 = XG3600 (check the specs on Mobil 1 website)
I run it about 8000 km before filter and oil change.

Use Mobil 1 5w30 oil but am going to try Mobil 1 5w20 next and see the fuel consumption improve.
I dont know if that is a good idea fern,I would go to 0W-30 MB-1 before I would drop to 5W-20.These motor`s have a pretty high internal temp re; head temp etc.

I switched to Purolator and the oil stayed a lot cleaner and I never looked back. That was many years before I read the bad reports on them. I will say 1 thing, I have read quite a few reports (analysis) on them over the last 7 or 8 years and except for high end ones, I have never read a GOOD report on them. I have actually read of several failures because of Fram filters. I drive a '04 Ford F-150 and follow a couple of Ford forums regularly and have read of 2 firsthand accounts of engines having to be replaced because of filter material failure that clogged passageways, and in turn, oil starvation and engine failure. In one case they informed the owner (and showed) what caused the failure (Fram filter) but from the goodness of their heart choose to put Ford on the hook for it and in the other case that dealer wasn't so charitable and it cost him $6-$7k for an new engine on a truck that was still under warrantee. I don't know about you but that would make me one unhappy camper! There are good filters out there that don't cost an arm and a leg, why take the chance on THE ORANGE WONDER?
+1 ^^^^^ I stopped using Fram because every cold start up,I would hear that oil starved bearing rattle.Their anti-drain valve`s must just not work.
